Q: What if my driveway has more than one layer to be removed?
During the removal process , if the asphalt being removed is more than one layer or greater than 2.5″ in thickness, McFarlane Paving inc. will be forced to charge an extra $1.50 sq.ft. for each additional layer of asphalt or layers thicker than 2.5″ thick!
Q: Why should I choose McFarlane Paving to pave my driveway or parking lot?

Q: How long will a new asphalt driveway or parking lot last?
With a properly installed asphalt paving surface using a good asphalt product, customers can expect the asphalt surface to last 20 or more years. With proper maintenance, many projects can last 20 years.
Q: Can you repair my existing driveway?
Asphalt has a life span of 20 years. There are many repair options but at the end of the day they all look like a patch job. From an economic stand point, patch work is counter productive. For that reason.
McFarlane Paving does not do any patch work or sealing work! It’s cheaper in the long run to just replace the driveway every 20-25 years.
Q: Do you offer a warranty on your work?
All our work is covered for 3 years and clearly stated so on the proposal.
Q: What is an overlay and is it appropriate for my needs?
On some occasions, it is possible to apply a new layer of asphalt over an old layer. A qualified asphalt paving professional will need to inspect the site to make that determination. Unfortunately, overlays are often done on pavement surfaces that should be replaced entirely. Ask McFarlane Paving which procedure is best for you.

Q: What is the procedure for maintaining my asphalt?
It is best to have asphalt maintenance done professionally. Many do-it-yourself products are available, but are not up to the standards used by a team of asphalt sealing professionals. There is also a skill level required to apply certain products. Applied incorrectly, any repair solution or sealing can actually cause damage to the asphalt!
McFarlane Paving does not perform any Patching or Sealing work!
Q: What do I need to do when you come to do the paving?
We will need full access to the site with garage doors open and water available. Park all vehicles down the road away from the driveway!
Q: Do I need to do anything after the paving is done?
Nothing specific is required. It is best to wait at least 24 hours before driving on the new surface. We often advise that you wait longer during hot weather or when the sub grade is wet!
Q: What will the asphalt look like when you are finished?
When your asphalt pavement is brand new the surface is very black. There may be times when you notice a slightly different complexion in the asphalt. This is because some areas must be hand raked as opposed to using the paving machine. After a short time of usage, however, the surface will blend together and have a very smooth appearance.
Q: How long does it take asphalt to cure?
It can take up to 12 months for the liquid asphalt to completely harden and cure. The surface of asphalt will harden and soften as temperatures rise and fall. This is completely normal.
